Once upon a time in a village called Woolpit, England. One day the villagers were surprised and amazed by the presence of two small children who came from nowhere. They crawled out of a ditch. The two children were the only girl and the only boy, the boy looked younger. They both wore strange clothes and spoke in languages that were not understood by the villagers. Besides their skin color is green, it makes the people confused and wonder, who are they?
One resident said, “Who are these two little kids? How strange, they are similar to us but the color of their skin is green. “Other residents also exclaimed,” Poor them, from the look on their faces without sadness, I will help them, “said one resident and then came to the two children. “Hello, who are you children? Are you all right? What village are you from,” asked one resident. The older girl answered, but all the residents did not know what the child said. “What about this? What are they talking about, I don’t know what that means, “asked the residents to other residents. Then the residents agreed, the two children would be taken to the house of Sir Richard de Calne, a landlord in the village.
After residents drove the two children to Sir Richard de Calne’s house, they were then brought into the house. Sir Richard de Calne took care of them and treated them like their own children. But unfortunately, the boy was sick, less than a year he lived in the house of Sir Richard de Calne, a boy who died. Sir Richard de Calne was very sad. Fortunately, a girl who survived
Several years passed, the girl grew into a beautiful adult woman. In line with the development of his age, the green color on his body increasingly disappeared and changed to normal. He was given the name Agnes.
While at Sir Richard’s house, Agnes learned English. When he was fluent, he began to tell how he and his younger brother had gotten to Woolpit. He said that they came from a place that had dusk-colored light and all the residents were green-skinned. Where they live, there is a large river separating their village from other villages that are always brightly lit.
One day, when the two of them were helping their father guard the cattle, Agnes and her sister heard the sound of a bell in the cave. Out of curiosity they followed the sound and entered the cave until they found a hole in the ground surface (trench) that reached Woolpit. That’s when the two children were seen by the villagers in the field.
As an adult Agnes lived like other girls in the village of Woolpit. Because of her beauty, Agnes was then proposed by a young royal nobleman from Norfolk named Richard Barre. Agnes then used the name Agnes Barre. Agnes and her husband lived peacefully until the end of their lives.
* Many people in the UK believe that the story of these two children is related to the vibrations of Earl Ferrers (British aristocracy). Current Earl Ferrers title holders are direct descendants of Agnes. One of the ancestors of Earl Ferrers was named Sir John Barre.
