Ayam Dan Serigala (Afrika Selatan)

Hari ini serigala sangat senang. Ia berhasil menangkap ayam yang selama ini diincarnya. Sudah lama ia mengincarnya, tetapi beberapa kali ayam bisa lolos dari terkamannya.

“Akhirnya kau berhasil aku tangkap juga, ayam” ucap Serigala senang.

la memegang dua kaki ayam, sambil terkekeh. Ayam terus saja berkokok. Tetapi tak digubris oleh serigala. Serigala segera membawa mangsanya pulang, la sudah sangat lapar, jadi ia buru-buru pulang.

Sesampainya di rumah, Serigala segera memasukkan ayam tersebut ke dalam sebuah kandang kecil di rumahnya. Kemudian ia berpikir, hendak diapakannya ayam itu.

“Aku masak dulu, atau langsung aku makan saja, ya?” gumam serigala.

“Ah, lebih baik langsung kumakan saja. Lagi pula perutku sudah sangat lapar” dengus serigala.

Serigala langsung mengambil ayam, lalu menaruhnya di meja makan.

“Kau yakin akan memakanku hidup-hidup, serigala? Pastilah dagingku tak enak,” ucap ayam.

“Kau mau mencoba mengelabuiku, ayam?” jawab serigala terkekeh.

Ayam merasa ketakutan. Namun, ia tak kehabisan akal, la terus saja merayu serigala untuk berbuat sesuatu agar tak langsung memakannya. Tetapi, usahanya tak berhasil.

“Baiklah jika kau mau memakanku. Tetapi aku minta kau berdoalah terlebih dahulu. Jadi nanti aku pun jadi bahagia ketika kau makan,” ujar ayam.

Serigala berpikir, mungkin Ini adalah permintaan terakhir ayam, la merasa berkewajiban untuk memenuhi permintaan itu.

“Bagaimana caranya berdoa? Aku tak pernah melakukan Itu sebelumnya,” jawab serigala, bingung.

“Angkat kedua tanganmu. Pejamkan matamu, dan berdoalah agar nanti dagingku enak tanpa
dimasak,” ucap ayam.

Serigala menuruti apa yang dikatakan oleh ayam. Saat serigala sedang berdoa dan menutup matanya, ayam dengan cepat langsung lari ke arah jendela. Dia pun bisa kabur dari serigala. Serigala merasa sangat jengkel. Sekali lagi, ia harus kehilangan ayam.

Pesan Moral :
